HIPE Coding Audit Toolkit (HCAT)

Audit is an integral part of the HIPE process and the HIPE Coding Audit Tookit is integrated with the W-HIPE software to facilitate efficient and consistent auditing both nationally and locally. The software has been designed and developed for use alongside the existing W-HIPE data entry reporting software. The principal aim of the software is to assist the hospital personnel in the auditing process, which in turn raises the overall quality of the data both within the hospital and nationally. The software also provides a standardised measurement system, which allows for comparisons of data over the audit process. The software may identify areas of concern in relation to training, patient documentation, local coding policies and knowledge of coding standards.

The interface of HCAT has been designed to be similar to that of W-HIPE and the Windows HIPE Reporter. Thus, anyone familiar with either of these software packages will have no difficulty using HCAT. This significantly reduces the time it takes to train new users.
